Retired SoJSM professor awarded Emeritus status

**Leon Alligood and University President Sidney McPhee**

Retired School of Journalism and Strategic Media professor Leon Alligood was awarded Emeritus status in a ceremony held on August 22, 2024. Alligood taught at MTSU for 15 years and is also a member of the Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame.

Students holding award — Tennessee Association of Broadcasters Excellence In Broadcasting Awards Banquet hosted at the beautiful Country Music Hall of Fame located at 224 Rep John Lewis Way S. Nashville TN, 37203. This year’s banquet promises to be a great event featuring a new and exciting format, complete with an awards program recognizing Excellence in Tennessee Broadcasting, and other fun surprises. Honoring Six Brooks for the Industry Impact Award and performance from country music star Chris Janson. Cocktail Reception 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm Dinner 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm Banquet Program 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

At the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters awards, SoJSM students earned multiple honors for their work:

1^st Place – Best Video News Feature Reporting – Izzy Gutierrez, Middle Tennessee News Reporter – DJ Alex Angelo

1^st Place – Best Digital Media – MTN Sports – Battle of Nashville

2^nd Place – Best Digital Media – MTN Sports – Building a Dynasty
